  1. Make an application to the Marriage Registrar in Form I. Form I is to be duly filled up and signed by both of you along with three other people who witnessed the solemnization of your marriage.
  2. Pay a fee of Rs. 5.00 [subject to changes and revision] in cash to the Marriage Registrar.
  3. Present the Form-I in person along with all the persons concerned [both the parties as well as the witnesses] so as to avoid delay or other hassles.
  4. Let the Registrar scrutinize your Form and pass necessary orders. He may put queries for clarification and ascertaining certain facts.
  5. If the Registrar is satisfied that your application is complete in all respects including compliance with the legal requirements, he causes your marriage to be entered into his records and issues a Certificate of Marriage.

If you want to register a fresh marriage/proposed marriage [Performed/to be performed on that date]

  1. Make an application in Form II along with a Declaration in Form III. Form II is to be signed by both of you while Form III is to be signed by both of you as well as three witnesses.
  2. Pay a fee of Rs. 5.00 [subject to changes and revision] in cash to the Marriage Registrar.
  3. Present the Form-I in person along with all the persons concerned [both the parties as well as the witnesses] so as to avoid delay or other hassles.
  4. Let the Registrar scrutinize your Form and pass necessary orders. He may put queries for clarification and ascertaining certain facts.
  5. If the Registrar is satisfied that your application is complete in all respects including compliance with the legal requirements, she causes your marriage to be entered into his records and issues a Certificate of Marriage.

If you are not able to produce three witnesses as required above

  1. Make an application in Form IX to the District Registrar.
  2. Submit for an enquiry by the District Registrar.
  3. The District Registrar, if he is satisfied about the genuineness of your application, passes an order directing the concerned Marriage Registrar to register your marriage, dispensing with the requirement of witnesses.
  4. Produce the order to the concerned Marriage Registrar, who acts on the order and registers your marriage and issues the Certificate of Marriage.
